FAQs
Who is a candidate for Laser Hair Removal?
The ideal candidate for laser hair removal has light skin and dark hair—that contrast helps the laser target the hair follicle without affecting the surrounding skin. That said, anyone with pigmented hair (brown to black) is generally a good candidate. Very light blond, gray, or white hair may respond poorly. Treatments shouldn’t be done around the eyes.
At Royal Threading, we believe that if your hair has pigment, you’re likely a candidate—book a consultation with us to confirm.
How many Laser Hair Removal sessions will I need to see results?
Each hair follicle goes through three natural growth phases:
Active (growth) phase – when the hair is actively growing.
Transition phase – the hair is visible but not actively growing.
Resting phase – when the hair eventually sheds from the follicle.
Laser hair removal is most effective during the active growth phase, as this is when the laser can directly target the germination cells that produce new hair. Since not all follicles are in the same phase at the same time, multiple sessions are required for the best results.
On average, clients need 8 or more treatments to achieve 70–90% permanent hair reduction. Facial areas are typically treated every 4–6 weeks, while body areas are scheduled every 4–12 weeks. Staying consistent with treatments is essential, as it ensures that all follicles are targeted during their active growth cycle.
What should I do, before and after a treatment?
Before Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment
Shave the treatment area on the morning of your appointment. The less surface hair, the more comfortable and effective your session will be.
Avoid sun exposure (including tanning beds) for 2–3 weeks before and after treatment, unless your technician advises otherwise.
Do not bleach, pluck, or wax the area for at least 3 weeks prior to your appointment, as the laser needs the hair root intact to work effectively.
Is the treatment painful?
The experience varies from person to person and depends on the area being treated. Most clients describe the feeling as a mild stinging or prickling sensation when the laser pulses—generally very tolerable, with many reporting little to no discomfort.
Sessions can last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour, depending on the size and number of areas treated. You’ll be provided with protective eyewear before the procedure begins.
To ensure safe and effective results, it’s important to follow specific pre- and post-care instructions given by your technician.
What body areas can this treatment be applied to?
Laser hair removal can be done on basically all the areas of the body that have hair.
It is permanent?
It is permanent for a period of time. It all depends on the hormonal growth of each client’s hair.
What type laser do we use?
Alma soprano diodo laser (FDA)approved safe for all type skin
If you have been directly exposed to sun or you have sunburn, please let your technician know
Laser cannot be done on sunburn skin
What to expect following a Laser treatment?
After Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment
Right after your session, your skin may feel like it has a mild sunburn—this sensation usually fades quickly. Some clients notice slight redness or irritation in the treated area, which typically resolves by the end of the day.
In the days following treatment, it may seem like hair is growing back. In reality, this is just the treated hair pushing through the skin before shedding. To speed up the process, gently exfoliate with a loofah or scrub in the shower.
You may also notice tiny black dots left behind, often called “pepperspots.” These are small hairs trapped in the follicle that will eventually shed on their own. Gentle exfoliation can help them clear more quickly.
